Documentary film maker and author, Jon Ronson spoke about his investigation into the US military’s strange experiments. The Men Who Stare At Goats is currently being filmed as a major motion picture starring George Clooney, Ewan McGregor, Kevin Spacey and Jeff Bridges.
Ronson is inspired to write this narrative when a man who claims to be a former U.S. military psychic spy tells the journalist he has been reactivated following the 9-11 attack. Ronson decides to investigate this information. His research leads him to the U.S. Army’s strange experiments into extra-sensory perception and telepathy, which strangely enough includes efforts to kill barnyard animals with nothing more than thought.
The movie and book explores the apparent madness at the heart of US military intelligence. With first-hand access to the leading players in the story, Jon Ronson examines the extraordinary – and plain bizarre wierd – national secrets at the core of the War on Terror.
The ex-Army guy who inspired the writing of the book claimed he killed a goat and his pet hamster by staring at them for prolonged periods of time.
“Most goat-related military activity is still highly classified.” — Jon Ronson (The Men Who Stare at Goats)
