OK. It’s good to occupy the space we are given, as you say “to the max.” Perhaps you don’t think that we are living in, possibly, the end times.
I’m sure you’ve read and been exposed to those end time arguments already. But, there may be some compelling reasons to think that it could be a biblical possibility. So here are a few of Harold’s findings.
Synopsis of what biblical evidence Harold found:
There seem to be much Biblical evidence that 2011 A.D. is the final year of this earth’s existence. Here are some interesting facts presented from the Bible that lead to May 21, 2011 being that date:
Note: First we need to know that the Bible is written on different levels. There are words and there is also a spiritual meaning behind those words since they are God-breathed. In order to have an understanding of a word used in the Bible you need to research how it was used throughout the old and new testament in order to grasp it’s true meaning. The Bible is it’s own dictionary.
The fig tree in leaf (Israel becomes a nation again May 14, 1948) tells us the end has to be after A.D. 1948
Jeremiah 24:1-7…. the two baskets of figs represent the two nations, Israel and Judah.
Jer 24:5 Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel; Like these good figs, so will I acknowledge them that are carried away captive of Judah, whom I have sent out of this place into the land of the Chaldeans for [their] good.
Jer 24:6 For I will set mine eyes upon them for good, and I will bring them again to this land: and I will build them, and not pull [them] down; and I will plant them, and not pluck [them] up.
Jer 24:7 And I will give them an heart to know me, that I [am] the LORD: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: for they shall return unto me with their whole heart.
From the date when Ezekiel measured the visionary temple in Ezekiel 40 unto 1948 when Israel became a nation again are 1260 plus 1260 years.
Summer is nigh Mat 24:32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer [is] nigh:
The harvest of souls infers a Jubilee year will occur.
A.D. 1994 is the next Jubilee year (50-years); This is the second Jubilee. (Two Jubilees are referenced to in the destruction of Jericho.)
This implies something ended. If so, The Church Age Ends in 1994. The Church Age identifies with Pentecost (when the first believers where brought into the church)
The duration of the first part of the Great Tribulation referred to in Daniel 8 is 2300 days.
The day before Pentecost in A.D. 1988 is May 21. This is 2300 days earlier than September 6, 1994
May 21, 2011 is exactly 7000 years to the day from the shutting of the Ark’s door; salvation has come to an end. The Day of the Lord begins and the wrath of God will be physically displayed upon this earth and carry through into eternity.
May 21, 2011 is the 17th day of the 2nd month, exactly the same day the door was shut in Noah’s day, 7000 years prior according to Genesis 7:11
Noah was 600 years old when, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month , the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened and it rained the great flood.
Mat 24:37 But as the days of Noe [were], so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
What does the Bible tell us about tell about the ability to tell the time of the end?
Amo 3:7 Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.
1Th 5:4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
Furthermore, while speaking of Noah’s day, God gives a significant time clue. He tells us that 1 day = 1000 years.
2Pe 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
Now what if we took this principle and applied it to Gen. 7:4, what would we find?
Genesis 7:4 For yet seven days (times 1,000 years = 7,000 years) or (yet in 7,000 years), and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth.
If God is likening the flood of Noah’s day to the end of the world… And in the same passage gives us a time clue from the flood to the end of the world… What would happen if we were to add 7,000 years to the year of Noah’s flood in 4990 B.C.? That’s not too hard to put into print, so here we go …
-4990 + 7000 = 2010 Keeping in mind that we must then add 1 because there is no year zero we arrive at 2011 A.D.
After May 21, 2011
In Revelation 9:5 and Rev. 9:10, God tells us there will be 5 months of terror on this earth. From May 21, 2011 to Oct. 21, 2011 will be exactly 5 months. (October 21, 2011 is the last day of the Feast of Tabernacles which God tells us is the very end of the world and the end of time.)
Rev 9:5 And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man.
So, just as God rained down water upon the earth 7000 years ago for a duration of five months, so too will He rain down fire on earth for five months.
Anyhow … that’s what biblical evidence Harold found and surmises his point of view from.
If it ends May 21, 2011 for some of us, or tomorrow one gets run over with a bus, dies of a heart attack, we’ll find if our eternal home is with Christ … or not.
Just as God knows the day and the hour of the end, God knows His sheep. So, who is a child of God? Salvation is the gift of God given to His children, the one’s chosen before the foundation of this world. On this earth plane, His children are spirits occupying their body.
The way Harold sees it, those who want into the “salvation” camp category maybe can gain entrance like the Ninavites did, when Noah preached only 8 words ”Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown.”
It is not recorded that Noah preached sermons, reads scripture or gave any lengthy message. Just “forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown.” But, they did an about face, repented “And they believed God.”
We are indeed living in interesting times. Maybe the urgency of immanent survival will get some to take notice and grab hold of the solemn attitude taken by Ninevities. Perhaps some will get right with God. But it doesn’t seem likely that people solely hanging their hat on a one-time slipping up a hand, or walking forward in a Crusade, getting baptized, speaking in tongues or waving a doctrinal flag of some sort will be able to stand in the judgment. A lot of people seem to wave their belief flag based on their own confession of faith making it their business card into the Kingdom.
Who it the perfect man that seeks truth? God writes, “No one.” So it is that only God can give us the gift of belief. He is the one who hands out the business cards. If you print your own, it’s forgery. Yet it seems the churches teach the do-it-yourself gospel compelling a person into saying, “I believe.” A contrite repentance and they are saved; the future secure.
Harold Camping brings this point home to roost and as one of the main proof points that the church is in disarray.
The humble and contrite heart of the Ninevites changed Gods decree, So what does God listen to? I like what the Psalms say. Ps 50:23 “Whoever offers praise glorifies Me, And, to him who orders his conduct aright, I will show the salvation of God.” Or in PS. 51:17 “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit. A broken and a contrite heart – these O God, You will not despise.”
Once people learn to quit their minds, changes can occur. When the soul shifts from the identification from a particular body to the totality of being, new realizations emerge. But that’s a whole different discussion.
So Bill, scare em to death and tell the May 21, 2011 is D-day? It may be the pragmatic and effective way for getting a few people’s attention. People don’t really change their minds. They simply make new decisions based on new information. In the absence of new information, there will be no new decision. Will the masses to have a change of heart? I applaud Harold’s Biblical engagement on the fundamentals and his constant give and take dialog with listeners on radio and TV. I don’t detect any guile in him. For those beating the drum getting the Word out, it would be hard to find someone more poignant than Harold.
I’m not totally convinced on the date. Mathematically, there is that psi uncertainty principle as well as the null hypothesis which states that one needs to assign a probability to an unknown quanta … which in turn could change an outcome. Also, the date could even be a parable lesson within a parable.
But, as you say, let us each contribute in his own way to getting people to read and listen to God’s Word. But looking for your quote: “…. and hasten its coming” I don’t find that in KJV. I was looking for that phrase in http://www.blueletterbible.org/index.cfm
And the beat goes on,
“And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.” Luk:19:13
